Christian Maier GmbH & Co, Germany

Christian Maier GmbH has been supplying a HUGE range of rotary joints to the paper, printing, textile and chemical industries since 1925.

Maier rotary joints connect pressure pipes and rotating pressure systems for heating and cooling rollers with pressurized water, steam or oil.

Used by manufacturers such as Heidelberg, MAN Roland, König und Bauer (Planeta, Albert Frankental), Mitsubishi, Rockwell, Goss, Windmöller & Hölscher, Comexi, Bobst, Bielloni, Nordmechanica, Kusters, Steuer, BHS, Higel Kältetechnik, Goudsche, Voith, Sandvik, Bühler, Netzsch, Lehmann, Krones and Metso (amongst many others!), Maier joints have an enviable reputation for reliability!

And Novasys stock genuine Christian Maier Maintenance Kits to ensure that your Maier joints keep rotating longer!

  • Suitable for steam (H & HW), hot oil (HW) and water at low rotating speeds
  • Also suitable for coolants, cooling water and air
  • Contains 2 bearings for longer life
  • The joint housing bearing is locked to prevent rotation
  • The sealing ring is resistant to friction, even at high pressures
  • Extremely easy to repair; maintenance free - There is no lubrication necessary!

  • Suitable for use with hot oil, steam and water at low rotating speeds
  • Cost effective design with no bearings
  • Available in large sizes - up to 300 mm diameter
  • The sealing rings are resistant to friction, even at high pressures
  • The A2 design for rotating inner pipe has a seal between inlet and outlet to ensure no cross contamination
  • Maintenance free - There is no lubrication necessary!

  • For hot and cold water applications
  • The are special designs for thermal oil and air
  • Capable of high running speeds, such as those of printing presses
  • Able to be used in temporary "run dry" applications
  • Low torque - These joints can be used in the production of thin plastic foils
  • Proven long service life
  • Easy to maintain and repair.

DQ Series Joints

  • Suitable for use with thermal oil to 400° C and rotational speeds of up to 2000 rpm (Designed for coating and laminating plants, paper, non-wovens and textile calenders, dryers, rotary reaction vessels)
  • Patented separation system prevents the oil contacting atmospheric oxygen, ensuring a much longer service life
  • Constant monitoring of the joint possible via a cooling unit
  • The joint design significantly reduces the risk of hot oil and oil vapours escaping
  • The primary seal is pressure balanced and free running. The seal protector disc protects against coarse contamination. Extra safety is obtained by using an externally loaded mechanical seal
  • The secondary seal is subject to low stress due to a cooled barrier fluid
  • Insulation of the rotor protects bearings from high temperature and prevents energy loss
  • The joint function is monitored by control elements on the cooling unit.

K Series Joints

Christian Maier GmbH & Co. KG, Germany introduced the completely new K Series of rotary joints for internal coolant supply of machine tools during EMO 2007.

These new rotary joints are caable of running at speeds of up to 42,000 rpm with a coolant pressure of up to 80 bar.

According to Christian Maier CEO Mr Erich Maier, the main technical feature of the K Series is a new, internationally patented internal thermal regulation system that allows the joint to run dry indefinitely (even at maximum speed).

The K Series can also be used for compressed air of up to 10 bar pressure at maximum speed with minimal lubrication.

Multipassage Joints

A multipassage (or multichannel or multiway) joint has normally more than two internal media passages and can transfer either multiple feeds of the same media or different media.

Typical media used transferred via these joints are hydraulic oil, water, air and gas.

Widely used in turntables, filling machines, injection and blow moulding machines, tool machines, tanning equipment, bottle washing units, steel mills, coiling systems, glass machines, robotics, food machinery and mixers, Maier multipassage joints have proven durabilty and reliability in the most demanding of environments.
