Zehntner's ZGM 1120 Glossmeter - The World's Smallest Glossmeter?   ***NEW***

Zehntner GmbH have recently released the new ZGM 1120 portable precision glossmeters for the determination of all gloss ranges.

Small in all dimensions, these lightweight glossmeters are able to measure on very confined areas, curved surfaces and surfaces that aren't uniform.

Available as single, dual or triple angle versions, the ZGM 1120 glossmeter is easy to operate and can be connected directly to a PC where Zehntner's powerful "GlossTools" software can be utilised.

Felt Tip Dyne Pens

Measure printability of plastic substrates and other non-porous surfaces with CON-TROL CURE® Felt Tip Dyne Pens.

 

These chisel-tip markers provide a quick, clean and easy method of testing treatment levels on polymer plastics. The simple application of a dyne pen to the surface or printing side of the tested material will determine its surface tension value, proving if the wettability of the pen's designated dyne level has been reached. Once surface tension is known, the tested material's printability and adhesion properties may then be quantified.

 

The Felt Tip Dyne Pens are tube colour-coded for easy identification. Each set contains 8 pens in standard levels: 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 dynes/cm. 6 month shelf life.

Individual pens from 30 to 44 dynes/cm are available through special order only.

Paper Change to Leneta 5DX and 2DX Charts

We have been advised by The Leneta Company that, to get a needed improvement in the quality of the paper used for making forms 5DX and 2DX, they have had to change paper suppliers.

This has resulted in a slightly lower Y-reflectance in the new paper than that in the old paper.

The new batch 3423 using the new paper has an approximate Y-reflectance of 83, whereas the “current” batch 3304 has an approximate Y-reflectance of 87.

 

For most users, the difference in reflectance should have no effect on paint test results.

 

However, in cases where the test paint is not applied at full hiding, an effect on hiding power or opacity measurements may be observed due to the increased reflectance of the white area.

 

It is Leneta’s experience that the more critical hiding power measurements are usually carried out on charts such as 2A, 2C and 3B. However, some customers do use 2DX and 5DX for this purpose.
